aic basics: What it means to curate with curiosity

Erin Lucas - she/her

M. Ed., Instructional Coaching and curriculum

Lucas is an advocate for: environmentalism, arts, equality, and individuality. She is a teacher, writer, multimedia creator, and lover of exploring the metaphysical and physical. Lucas' passion is creating a legacy of loving liberation through radical vulnerability.

after the pandemic of 2020, the world was faced with the decision to maintain a destructive cultural status quo or to create change using our collective education and experience to foster the difference we want to see within ourselves and the world around us. This desire to actuate cultural change rooted in equality for ALL is the SPARK that created the AIC flame.

There is a Bolivian folktale about the song of the armadillo. The moral of this tale is "...there is sacrifice for great art, but it is worth the beauty that remains.”

In Indigenous symbolism, the armadillo represents a deep sense of self and security that is the product of digging within to shed light on, and have empathy for, the things that limit our full expression of self.

This creature is a familiar staple in Lucas' upbringing. She was raised and resides around the Red river to Rio Grande boundaries of the United States. Lucas has repeatedly experienced and learned from the energy of the armadillo.

it continues to humble and inspire her.

Hopefully, it will do the same for you.
